Local premiere of FDF-financed film "A Guilty Conscience"

The local premiere of a new film partly financed by the Film Production Financing Scheme (Relaxation Plan) under the Film Development Fund (FDF), "A Guilty Conscience", will be held this evening (January 6).

"A Guilty Conscience" is produced by Bill Kong and Ivy Ho and directed and written by Jack Ng. The film stars Dayo Wong, Tse Kwan-ho, Louise Wong, Fish Liew and Michael Wong and co-stars Ho Kai-wa, Renci Yeung and Adam Pak, with special appearances by Bowie Lam and Vincent Kok. Through a case of an international supermodel suspected of abusing her daughter, the film demonstrates how people at the top of the social pyramid make use of their power and resources to defend themselves. The case turns the court into a battleground of justice, power, and fame.

The Chairman of the Hong Kong Film Development Council, Dr Wilfred Wong, said, "'A Guilty Conscience' invites audiences to explore the truth of a serious case in a relaxing and humorous way. The whole process is a mix of sorrow and joy. I am sure that audiences will be impressed by the interaction between the delicate performances of the actors and the fascinating story."

Dr Wong hoped that the Government will continue to support the local film industry through the FDF along four strategic directions, namely nurturing talent, enhancing local production, expanding markets and building the audience.

Since 2005, the Government has injected a total of $1.54 billion into the FDF to support a number of film production projects and other film-related projects. Since 2007, the FDF has financed 58 film projects, involving total funding of about $220.17 million. The production budget for "A Guilty Conscience" is around $22.17 million, with government finance amounting to about $8.87 million.
