Hong Kong Film New Action Business Forums
(25 - 26 March 2009)

The business forums aimed to provide participants with a platform for discussion about the five major markets of Chinese language films, namely the Mainland, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore and Malaysia. The participants had gained a better understanding of the latest trends of these markets and learned more about the “Hong Kong Film Development Fund” together with various funding and subsidy schemes made available by the respective governments for small-to-medium film productions. The participants also had a deeper understanding of the business opportunities of Mainland - Hong Kong co-production brought about by CEPA. The business forums comprised a series of seminars, covering a wide spectrum of topics. The guest speakers included the famous film practitioners and government officials from the Mainland, the U.S.A., Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia and Hong Kong. Please refer to the programme for the content and speaker details of the business forums.

Over 250 people were in attendance at the business forums and they included those who attended “FILMART 2009” from around the world. Heavyweights of the film industry were invited as guest speakers of the business forums. They sincerely shared their experiences and views on the trends and developments of the film industries in the Asian region and answered questions from the floor. The business forums provided an invaluable opportunity for both speakers and audience to interact and exchange views. The participants agreed that the business forums could positively facilitate the co-operation of the film industries of the five places and the development of the Southeast Asian film market.
